A respected water and wastewater utility provider in Houston (77049) is hiring a Utility Field Technician to support operations across local districts. This hands-on role is perfect for candidates who enjoy working outdoors, learning essential skills, and helping keep water systems running for the community.
Job Highlights
Pay: $18.00–$22.00/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday (shifts may vary)
Location: Houston, TX 77049
On-Call: Required once per month (rotating)

Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate meter readings, installations, and water service turn-ons/shut-offs
Locate and repair service line leaks (PVC and Poly pipe)
Assist in operations and upkeep of water/wastewater plants and lift stations
Support underground utility repairs (water/sewer mains, fire hydrants, manholes)
Conduct new tap installations and infrastructure upgrades
Requirements
Prior experience in water utility systems (collection or distribution)
Valid Texas driver’s license and clean MVR
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions year-round
Comfortable using hand tools and performing basic maintenance
Must pass background check
Preferred Knowledge
Plumbing or water meter reading background
Familiarity with MS Office, Dropbox, Service Fusion, Birdnest, GIS, or CMMS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
