Logistics Coordinator – Temporary Contractor

Location: Houston, TX – Remote with 1 day/week onsite in Memorial

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Pay: $20.00–$25.00/hour, depending on experience

Assignment Length: Approximately 3–4 months with possible extension

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and organized Logistics Coordinator to support domestic transportation operations for a Houston-based logistics company. This is a temporary 3–4 month assignment covering an employee leave.

The position will primarily work remotely; however, candidates must be local to the Houston area and available to meet onsite in the Memorial area approximately once per week for training and operational support.

The ideal candidate has experience coordinating domestic trucking and freight, tracking shipments, obtaining freight rates, preparing bills of lading, and working within 3PL or transportation platforms. This position requires someone who is self-motivated, responsive, and able to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track domestic freight and trucking shipments
• Monitor shipment status and provide timely tracking updates
• Request and compare trucking/freight rates
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating pickups and deliveries
• Prepare and process Bills of Lading (BOLs) and related shipping documentation
• Enter and update shipment information within 3PL and transportation platforms
• Generate and send shipment tracking links to customers and internal contacts
• Follow up with carriers regarding shipment status, delays, and delivery information
• Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation
• Use Excel to track shipments, rates, and other logistics information
• Communicate professionally with carriers, customers, and internal team members
• Manage fluctuating shipment volumes while remaining organized and responsive

Qualifications

• Previous experience in logistics, transportation, freight coordination, or a related field preferred
• Experience with domestic trucking/freight strongly preferred
• Familiarity with 3PL, transportation, or freight-management platforms
• Experience preparing Bills of Lading and shipping documentation
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong computer and data-entry skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and changing deadlines
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Must have reliable high-speed home internet; mobile hotspots are not acceptable
• Must be local to Houston and able to report to the Memorial area approximately once per week

Candidates selected for the position will be required to complete a background check and drug screening. Due to the confidential nature of logistics and customer information, the employee must maintain a secure and professional home workspace and follow all company data-security requirements.
